1061 metres of ascent over 6.88 km from the toll booth at Venås to the pyramid at the head of Måndalen — the mountain you see rising ahead of you from the first step, says morotur. Fri Flyt rates the tour KAST 2 – Challenging with a steepest point around 35 degrees at the top of the bowl; the line here pulls out onto the northeast ridge from the flat at about 900 m, as the source recommends with avalanches in mind, and measures 22.4 degrees in its steepest 100 m band and 25.6 in its steepest sustained stretch. The summit itself is often snow-free — skis are usually left a few metres below it.

From the toll booth at the Venås farm at the head of Måndalen, 201 m, you follow the toll road to Venåssetra — the bands from 200 to 400 m measure 3.0 and 3.7 degrees over nearly three and a half kilometres of road, an even, easy climb up the valley. The setra is a good resting place on fine days, says morotur. The terrain model reads 393 m there; Fri Flyt's «ca 700» for the setra is wrong, and the register and the terrain model agree.
